Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does the installation take?

    • Most garage floor coating projects are completed in 2 days. Some specialty systems, such as quartz or metallic epoxy, may require 3 or more days depending on the system selected and the condition of the concrete.

  • When can I walk on my new floor?

    • Light foot traffic is typically allowed within 24 hours after the final coat is applied.

  • When can I park my vehicle on the floor?

    • We generally recommend waiting 48 to 72 hours before parking vehicles on the floor to ensure proper curing and maximum durability.

  • How long will my floor coating last?

    • A professionally installed coating system can last for many years when properly maintained. The lifespan depends on the coating system, traffic levels, environmental conditions, and maintenance practices.

  • What makes Goat Coatings different from DIY epoxy kits?

    • Most DIY kits use water-based epoxy and rely on acid etching for preparation. Our systems begin with professional diamond grinding, crack repair, moisture mitigation, and industrial-grade coating materials designed for long-term performance and durability.

  • Do you repair cracks in the concrete?

    • Yes. Minor cracks and surface imperfections are repaired as part of our preparation process to create a solid foundation for the coating system.

  • Do you grind the concrete before coating?

    • Absolutely. Proper concrete preparation is the most important step of any coating installation. We mechanically diamond grind the concrete to create the proper Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) needed for maximum adhesion.

  • What coating systems do you offer?

    • We offer several flooring systems including:

    • • Decorative Flake Systems
      • Quartz Aggregate Systems
      • Solid Color Epoxy Systems
      • Metallic Epoxy Systems

    • Each system is designed for different applications, aesthetics, and performance requirements.

  • Are your floors slippery?

    • Our flake, quartz, and textured systems provide excellent traction. Additional slip-resistant additives can be incorporated into most systems when desired.

  • Can coatings be installed outdoors?

    • Yes. Quartz systems and certain polyaspartic-based systems are excellent choices for patios, pool decks, walkways, porches, and other outdoor spaces.

  • Will hot tires damage the floor?

    • No. Properly installed industrial-grade coating systems are designed to withstand vehicle traffic and hot tire exposure.

  • What colors are available?

    • We offer a wide variety of decorative flake blends, quartz colors, solid colors, and metallic epoxy options. During the estimate process, we'll help you select a color that fits your space and style.

  • Do you offer warranties?

    • Yes. Warranty coverage varies by system and project type. We will review all warranty information with you during the proposal process.

  • How do I clean and maintain my coated floor?

    • Routine maintenance is simple. Most floors can be cleaned with a dust mop, soft broom, or occasional rinsing. For deeper cleaning, use a pH-neutral cleaner and avoid harsh acidic chemicals.

  • Do you serve areas outside of Lincoln?

    • Yes. Goat Coatings proudly serves Lincoln, Omaha, and many surrounding Nebraska communities. Travel may be available for larger projects outside our standard service area.

  • How much does a floor coating cost?

    • Pricing depends on several factors including square footage, concrete condition, coating system selected, and project complexity. Contact us for a free estimate and customized proposal.

  • Are estimates free?

    • Yes. We provide free estimates and consultations for residential and commercial projects.

  • What happens after I submit a quote request?

    • We'll review your project details, contact you to discuss your goals, and provide a detailed recommendation and estimate based on your specific needs.

  • What is the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?

    • Epoxy and polyaspartic coatings are often used together to create a complete flooring system. Epoxy is typically used as the base coat because it provides excellent adhesion, durability, and the ability to encapsulate decorative flakes, quartz, or metallic pigments. Polyaspartic is commonly used as the topcoat because it offers superior UV stability, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and faster cure times.

At Goat Coatings, we utilize professional multi-layer systems that combine the strengths of both products to create a floor that is built to last. Rather than choosing one or the other, we believe the best results come from using each material where it performs best.

  • What is the difference between flake, quartz, metallic, and solid-color floors?

    • Each flooring system offers its own unique appearance and benefits:

      Flake Flooring
Our most popular option for garages. Decorative vinyl flakes are broadcast into the coating to create a seamless, durable floor that hides dirt, imperfections, and tire marks while providing excellent slip resistance.

      Quartz Flooring
A premium double-broadcast system designed for maximum durability and traction. Quartz floors are ideal for garages, patios, pool decks, commercial spaces, and other high-traffic areas where slip resistance and long-term performance are priorities.

      Metallic Epoxy Flooring
A decorative system that uses metallic pigments to create unique movement, depth, and visual effects. No two metallic floors are exactly alike, making them a popular choice for basements, showrooms, offices, and specialty spaces.

      Solid Epoxy Flooring
A clean, uniform flooring system available in a wide range of colors. Solid epoxy floors are ideal for workshops, showrooms, warehouses, mechanical rooms, and customers who prefer a simple, professional appearance without decorative flakes or metallic effects.

Not sure which system is right for your space? We'll help you choose the best option based on your goals, budget, and intended use.
